Is Upwork or Fiverr better for someone just starting out freelancing?

Trying to pick one platform to focus on first rather than spreading myself across both. Which is more beginner-friendly?

They suit slightly different situations. Upwork works more like traditional job bidding: clients post a project, you submit a proposal, and it's more relationship/negotiation driven, which can suit broader or more custom work (like ongoing consulting or larger projects) better. Fee structures also differ and change over time on both platforms, so it's worth checking current rates before committing. Plenty of freelancers end up using both once they're established — but picking one to learn first, rather than splitting focus early on, is generally the more efficient way to build up initial reviews.
