How can I tell if a 'remote job' posting is actually a scam?

I got a message on LinkedIn offering me a fully remote admin job paying way more than similar roles, no interview, just a 'quick onboarding call.' Feels off. What are the red flags?

That's a classic pattern. Common red flags: the offer is unsolicited or came far too easily, the pay is noticeably above market for the stated experience level, the whole process happens over chat/text with no real video interview, you're asked to pay for a "starter kit" or training materials, and the company has little to no verifiable online presence (no real website, no employees you can find on LinkedIn, no reviews). Legitimate employers never ask you to pay them to start working, and they don't pressure you to decide immediately. If you're ever asked to receive and reship packages, or to deposit a check and send part of it back, stop immediately — those are reshipping and check-fraud scams. When in doubt, search the company name plus "scam" or "complaint" before giving out any personal information.
